Day One: Welcome aboard our deluxe motorcoach as we head south to the beautiful “Golden Isles of Georgia.” Our route takes us south via 1-26 & 1-95 (Columbia & Savannah). This afternoon we’ll travel to Waycross, Georgia for a visit to The Okefenokee Swamp. This is one of the largest preserved freshwater wetlands in the United States covering more than 700 square miles. While here, we’ll take a boat tour of the swamplands and enjoy a visit to the Nature Center, Wildlife Refuge and Observation Tower, Late this afternoon we’ll arrive in Brunswick, Georgia–our home for the next two nights.

Day Two: Good morning and welcome to Jekyll Island–smallest of the coastal islands and connected to the mainland by a causeway. This is the site of the famous Jekyll Island Club founded in 1886. Members of the club included J. P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, Edwin Gould and Joseph Pulitzer among others. They “Wintered” here from mid-January to late April and built fabulous “Cottages” which we will see. We’ll tour Millionaires Village, the historic district and Faith Chapel. This afternoon we’ll travel a few miles north to St. Simons Island. To give you an idea of the history of this famous island, John and Charles Wesley preached under St. Simons Oaks before a Church was built at Frederica and later Aaron Burr spent a month here after killing Alexander Hamilton in a duel. We’ll take a guided tour of the island to include Ft., Frederica, Christ Church, Epworth-By-The Sea, The Museum of Coastal History and The Old Lighthouse.

Day Three: We’ll bid The Golden Isles goodbye this morning and travel north to the historic old city of Savannah. Founded in 1733, this city boasts of a history and culture that few other American cities can match. Our guide will show us some of the highlights of the city including the Waterfront Area, Customs House and Factors Walk. We’ll also see the Trustees Garden Site. This was the original site of a la-acre experimental garden modeled after the Chelsea Gardens in London. We’ll learn the fascinating story behind the movie “Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil.” Following lunch, we’ll return home via 1-95 & 1-26 (Columbia & Spartanburg) making meal and rest stops along the way.
