June 13 – 16

Day One: We’ll board our luxury Prevost motorcoach and travel west today, headed for exciting Memphis, Tennessee! We’ll travel I-40 by way of Asheville, the Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville, the Cumberland Plateau, Nashville & Jackson making meal and rest stops along the way. Early this evening we’ll arrive in Memphis – our home for the next two nights.

Day Two: Memphis is a bustling city and a major trading center on the Mississippi river, but Elvis Presley put it on the map! Known the world over, “Elvis” has sold more records (over one billion) than any other recording artist in history. Our first stop this morning will be at “Graceland” – his beloved home in South Memphis. We’ll see the vast array of awards & artifacts he garnered, dazzling costumes, cars, motorcycles and personal momentos. The new Elvis Experience tour includes the Graceland Mansion, visitor entertainment complex, two airplances, gravesites of Elvis and his parents, car museum and (new for 2019) Elvis exhibits. Our next stop is the Memphis Rock n’ Soul Museum – created by the Smithsonian Institution, the museum showcases and birth and history of rock & roll and soul music. Our final stop today will be the Sun Sound Studios. Owned by legendary record producer Sam Phillips, this recording studio was home to the “Million Dollar Quartet” (Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Mickey Gilley) and is known as the birthplace of rock and roll. We’ll enjoy dinner (included) this evening at one of the best restaurants on Beale Street.

Day Three: This morning we’ll tour some of the sights of Memphis to include the Lorraine Motel (now the Civil Rights Museum), see the old Cotton Exchange, the Peabody Hotel (home of the famous ducks) and other sites. Mid morning we head east on I-40 to Jackson, Tennessee – home to Brooks Shaw Old Country Store, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch (included). This afternoon we’ll continue on to Nashville, where we’ll enjoy a performance of the Grand Ole Opry and overnite.

Day Four: We’ll take a driving tour of Nashville this morning to see some famous County Music sites before heading home still thinking of our favorite Elvis song!
